Systems Not Syncing
The business tools are not exchanging data. Every system holds a different version of reality. Things fall through the gaps between them.
What Operators Usually See
Customer information updated in the CRM does not appear in the e-commerce platform. Orders placed on the website do not show up in the fulfillment system. Inventory counts on the website differ from counts in the warehouse management system. Payments confirmed in Stripe are not reflected in the accounting system. Support agents cannot see order history because the store and the support platform operate independently. Staff are maintaining parallel spreadsheets to bridge the gaps. Financial reports cannot be reconciled because the numbers are different in every system that should report the same transactions.
What This Usually Means
When This Happens
After a software update in one of the connected systems that changed API endpoint structure, authentication requirements, or data formats. When an API key or OAuth token expires and is not renewed. When a subscription plan is changed and integration features are downgraded. When a new system is added to the stack without integration to existing systems. After a system migration where the integration configuration of the old system was not transferred to the new one.
